Google has rescheduled its annual Made by Google event to August 13. This is earlier than usual, as the event typically happens in October. The goal is to unveil the Pixel 9 before Apple’s iPhone 16 launch and to reduce leaks about the new phone.
The event will be held at Google’s headquarters in Mountain View. A teaser titled “AI…meet IX” hints at new AI features in the Pixel 9. Google has shared a short video on YouTube showing the Pixel 9 in a dark setting. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Google aims to get ahead of Apple and manage the information about the Pixel 9 better.
The Made by Google event will start with a keynote at 10 a.m. PT (10:30 p.m. IST), followed by a hands-on experience with the new products. This year, the focus is expected to be on AI, as Google has recently launched its AI chatbot, Gemini, and is adding AI features to many of its products.
What to Expect from the Pixel 9 Series
Google is set to reveal the Pixel 9 series on August 13. While the exact number of models is unknown, there might be a Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, a new Pixel Pro variant, and possibly a Pixel Fold, which might be called the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
The Pixel 9 series will likely have major improvements in design, performance, and features. The Pixel 9 Pro might come in two sizes: a 6.1-inch standard model and a 6.7-inch XL model, both with high-quality OLED displays. The new design might feature a smaller camera bar in a vertical pill shape on the back.
One of the new features could be Adaptive Touch, which makes the screen more responsive under different conditions. The Pixel 9 Pro might come in black, white, green, and pink.
The phones will run on Google’s custom Tensor G4 chip, developed with Samsung, promising better performance and AI capabilities. The Pixel 9 Pro models might have up to 16GB of RAM for smooth multitasking and AI-powered apps.
For cameras, the Pixel 9 Pro might have a triple-lens setup with advanced photography features. A large sensor could allow for variable aperture, improving low-light photos. New AI features like the Magic Editor and tools powered by Gemini Nano AI could offer advanced photo and video editing options.
The Pixel 9 series is expected to have better connectivity, including enhanced modems and satellite connectivity for remote areas, similar to the iPhone’s Emergency SOS. They will come with Android 15, featuring new software improvements.
As the event approaches, anticipation grows for Google’s innovations in AI and mobile technology. This timing change not only beats Apple’s launch but also highlights Google’s latest tech advances.
